Accounting Manager

We are looking for an Accounting Manager who wants to lead a capable accounting team, improve processes, and make a visible impact in an organization where accuracy, accountability, and collaboration matter.  

Position Summary 

The Accounting Manager manages day-to-day accounting operations and supports accurate, timely financial reporting. This role coordinates the monthly close, maintains the general ledger and related controls, supervises assigned accounting staff, and partners with the VP, Finance and business teams to resolve accounting issues and improve routine processes.


Key Responsibilities 

Leadership & Team Management 

  • Supervise assigned accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable staff. 
  • Set day-to-day priorities, review work, and provide coaching and performance feedback. 
  • Promote consistent procedures, cross-training, and timely completion of accounting tasks. 

Accounts Payable Management 

  • Supervise invoice processing, payment runs, and vendor account reconciliations. 
  • Resolve routine payment issues and escalate significant exceptions to the VP, Finance. 
  • Monitor compliance with purchasing policies, approval limits, and payment terms. 

Accounts Receivable Management 

  • Supervise billing, cash application, account reconciliations, and collection follow-up. 
  • Review aging reports and coordinate resolution of disputed or past-due balances. 
  • Partner with sales and customer service on routine credit and collection matters. 

Inventory & Cost Accounting 

  • Maintain inventory accounting records and support accurate inventory valuation. 
  • Review cost updates, inventory reconciliations, and physical inventory results. 
  • Investigate variances and communicate material issues to finance and operations leaders. 

Financial Reporting & Accounting 

  • Coordinate monthly and year-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations. 
  • Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules for accuracy and timeliness. 
  • Maintain general ledger integrity and investigate unusual balances or variances. 
  • Provide accounting data and analysis to support budgeting and forecasting led by the VP, Finance. 

Internal Controls & Compliance 

  • Follow and administer established accounting controls and procedures. 
  • Document accounting processes and recommend practical improvements. 
  • Monitor compliance with company policies and applicable accounting standards, escalating material issues. 

Tax & Regulatory Compliance 

  • Prepare schedules and supporting information for federal, state, and local tax filings. 
  • Coordinate routine requests with external tax advisors under the direction of the VP, Finance. 
  • Maintain tax and regulatory records and track filing deadlines. 

Audit Support

  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation. 
  • Coordinate routine auditor requests and track open items through completion. 
  • Assist with agreed corrective actions and accounting process updates. 

Expense Compliance 

  • Review expense reporting for accuracy, completeness, and policy compliance. 
  • Resolve routine exceptions and escalate significant or recurring issues. 
  • Support communication of expense procedures to employees and managers. 

Qualifications 

Required 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close and financial reporting. 
  • 1+ year of supervisory or team-lead experience. 
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and internal controls. 
  • Experience with ERP systems and strong Microsoft Excel skills. 
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. 

Preferred 

  • CPA or CMA designation. 
  • Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-intensive environment. 
  • Experience with cost accounting, inventory reconciliations, or audit support.

  • Salary Range $100,000 - $125,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, skills, and demonstrated leadership capabilities.
